Kent Women share Women’s County T20 regional title after finals day washout

Kent Women have shared 2023’s Vitality Women’s County T20 regional title with Middlesex after a complete washout of the Finals Day at Mill Hill School on Saturday.

In a damp Hertfordshire setting, the Horses progressed to the final by virtue of a coin toss to go past Surrey in their scheduled semi-final as per tournament rules – the final was then also washed out due to Summer thunderstorms meaning that the Horses shared their second regional T20 success with Finals Day hosts, Middlesex.

2023’s regional T20 title joins Kent’s success in 2021, when the tournament was regionalised with no national Finals Day due to the advent of women’s regional cricket.

Kent had had a strong squad available for Finals Day, skippered by Sydney Gorham, with a number of heroes involved in Kent’s recent Battle of the Bridge T20 win over Essex available, strengthened by the addition of Kent & South East Stars ‘keeper-batter Jemima Spence.

Weather has played a big part in Kent Women’s T20 campaign for 2023 – only two results were possible for the Horses in their group stage double-headers, two big wins over Oxfordshire, with washouts away against Surrey & at home to Middlesex.
