Stormy weather in Canterbury frustrated Kent Women’s Cricket team in their efforts to push home their advantage in the Royal London One-Day Cup/Women’s Championship competition. Torrential rain and gale force winds on Friday night lead to a soaked Polo Farm and the cancellation of the Kent, Berkshire match on Sunday.

The cancellation leaves the team 15 points clear at the top of the Royal London One-Day Cup points table, ahead of Surrey, their opponents in their final round match next week. Surrey have this and one other match to complete.

The winner of the Championship is decided on average points from completed fixtures. With the maximum 18 from the five completed matches, Kent remain in a strong position over Surrey’s 15 points from four completed. Success in the final round will be vital for both Counties. Before next Sunday’s Royal London One-Day fixture the Kent Women will begin the defence of their T20 crown, playing Surrey and Essex in a two day tournament at Hayes Cricket Club, Bromley, Kent.
