Kent’s Second Eleven match ends in draw

Wednesday 29th July 2009

KENT’S Second Eleven Championship match with Gloucestershire ended in an inevitable draw as there was no play on days two or three at Cheltenham College.

On the opening day, spin bowler Rob Ferley (pictured) made a successful return to action. The left-arm bowler is back in action following knee surgery last month.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Kent skipper James Hockley led from the front; top-scoring with 63 in Kent’s total of 254 all out. Hockley shared in an opening stand of 95 with Sam Northeast (42). All-rounder Alex Blake hit 59 and Phil Edwards hit 35 in Kent’s total.

In reply, Gloucestershire reached stumps 95 for one. Warren Lee took the only wicket to fall. Sadly no further play was possible with heavy rain falling in Cheltenham.
