Klaassen’s Netherlands qualify for 2024 T20 World Cup

A dramatic victory over South Africa in the T20 World Cup saw Kent left-armer Fred Klaassen & the Netherlands gain automatic qualification for the next edition of the tournament after a fourth-placed finish in their group.

Klaassen contributed with figures of 2-20, dismissing opener Quinton de Kock & middle-order hitter Aiden Markram, as the Oranje overcame the third-best ranked T20 International side in the world by 13 runs at the Adelaide Oval.

Competing in the tournament from the first round, Klaassen took eight wickets in eight matches with a bowling economy of only 6.36.

His figures of 2-13 in the Netherlands’ opening match against the UAE were the 29-year-old’s most economical, with only 191 runs coming from his 180 deliveries in the competition.
