Lancashire’s Sajid Mahmood was the pick of the attack in the limited play. He claimed two wickets in a good spell, either side of lunch, to dismiss Joe Denly and Geraint Jones.

Skipper Rob Key (pictured) got some time out in the middle. He finished unbeaten on 19, from 30 deliveries, with Matt Coles, promoted up the order to bat at four, 10 not out at the other end.

The game was eventually abandoned at 3.45pm on the final afternoon. Lancashire take nine points with Kent receiving seven.
