Martin van Jaarsveld hands Vice-Captaincy to Geraint Jones

Kent County Cricket Club announced today that Martin van Jaarsveld is standing down as vice-captain, with Geraint Jones taking over the role until the end of the season.

Commenting on his decision, Martin van Jaarsveld said; “I want to concentrate on my batting. I have enjoyed captaining the side in Rob Key’s absence, but I would like to focus on scoring runs from now. I remain totally committed to Kent and hope we continue to finish the season well.”

Geraint Jones commented; “I am delighted to take on the role of vice-captain and consider it a great honour. I very much look forward to assisting Keysy in leading the side.”

Geraint Jones will captain Kent in their CB40 match against Sussex at Hove. Rob Key will miss this match due to an on-going wrist injury. The match, on Tuesday 23rd August starts at 4.40pm and will be covered live on Sky Sports. The full Kent squad will be announced shortly on this website.
