The current forecast is for warm, sunny weather – something that the Spitfires didn’t get last time out against Derbyshire.

Ben Compton’s 87 runs in Kent’s win over the Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Sunday takes him up to 238 tournament runs so far at the top of the order, and heads up the Spitfires’ batting tables alongside tournament centurions Joey Evison & Ollie Robinson – the latter having set a new Club record with 206* against Worcestershire Rapids.

Hamid Qadri’s new career-best of four wickets for 36 means he now sits atop of the Spitfires’ wicket-taking charts with nine, followed by Matt Quinn (7) & four wickets each for Evison, Nathan Gilchrist & Navdeep Saini.

With the top three sides qualifying for the Quarter Finals of the tournament, the Spitfires will need to win their next two 50-over matches, both at Canterbury.

Kent Cricket Community Trust and Kent Cricket are welcoming local refugee community members to watch Kent Spitfires vs Yorkshire Vikings.

Activities have been coordinated to welcome the community, including coaching sessions for the young people.

All young people attending can get a Kent Cricket Community Trust activity booklet along with an opportunity to have an autograph session at the end of the match.

Last Time Out

Kent Spitfires were washed out against Derbyshire at the Incora County Ground in the Royal London Cup.

The Spitfires will need two victories from their last two home matches and hope that the home crowd at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence creates ‘Fortress Canterbury’ to help them into the Quarter Finals of the tournament.

The abandonment of the Group B match against Kent at the Incora County Ground, Derby, left both teams chances in the balance with only two games remaining.

Opposition Report

Yorkshire Vikings are currently one place out from being in a position to qualify for the Quarter Finals and one point behind Essex Eagles in third, but have played one less match than both Kent Spitfires and their cross-Thames rivals.

With the Vikings one point ahead of Kent, victory for the Spitfires will take them above Yorkshire for the time being, with both sides having one eye on the outcome of Essex’s trip to Worcester tomorrow to face Worcestershire Rapids.

Will Fraine & Harry Duke both have over 200 tournament runs for the Vikings and average over 45.00, with Fraine hitting nine sixes & 26 fours.

Hoping for more wickets will be Matthew Waite (8 @ 16.87), who has the most for Yorkshire so far in the Royal London Cup, closely followed by Jack Shutt (7 in three matches) & fast bowler Ben Coad (6).
