Another excellent innings from all-rounder Marcus O’Riordan propelled Kent’s Second XI to an impressive nine wicket victory over Surrey Second XI in their Southern Group T20 match at The County Ground, Beckenham.

O’Riordan was 86 not out with 11 boundaries, as he steered the side to their 145 for 1 winning score, his fellow opener, Tawanda Muyeye, who made 28, the only wicket to fall. Trialist wicket-keeper Jack Timby was 24 not out, as the Second team won the match with 3.1 overs to spare.

Captaining the side, O’Riordan has been in prime batting form in his last three innings scoring 85 not out, 73, and 86 not out, and he also recently made his maiden first class century, 100 not out, against the Sri Lankan Development XI

Surrey scored 143 for 7 from their 20 overs, their innings fading away after an opening stand of 73, between Nico Riefer 51, with six boundaries, and Ben Geddes 47, four fours and two sixes. Some accurate bowling for Kent from Hamid Qadri 2 for 21, and Kent League Bickley Park bowler, Max Luckett  2 for 34, who recently made his  first team debut for the county.

Kent Second XI”s T20 Southern Group match away to Middlesex at Merchant Taylors School on Tuesday was washed out without a ball bowled.
