Results elsewhere meant that Kent will play away at Sophia Gardens against Glamorgan on Sunday 13 September.
Batting first, Kent posted a competitive 272 for eight from their 50 overs, with Kelly Castle leading the way with an excellent 60 from 73 balls. Castle struck 10 fours during a patient innings that provided the foundation for Kent’s total.
Elsa Barnfather added a valuable 52 from 62 deliveries, hitting eight boundaries, while Hannah Hardwick provided some late impetus with a rapid 30 from just 24 balls, including five fours. Amy Gordon made 19 and Sydney Gorham finished unbeaten on 22 from 20 balls.
Leicestershire’s best bowler was Caitlin Chissell, who finished with an excellent 3 for 32 from her 10 overs, while Rebecca Brooker claimed two wickets.
Chasing 273, Leicestershire made a reasonable start but struggled to build the partnerships required to sustain the chase. Chissell top-scored with 49 from 70 balls, striking seven fours, while Emily Booker contributed 39 from 44 balls. Alice Oliver also made a useful 32 from 38 deliveries.
Kent’s bowling attack, however, continued to chip away at the Leicestershire batting order. Sydney Gorham, Megan Belt and Isabella James each claimed three wickets.
Gorham returned the outstanding figures of 3 for 31 from seven overs, while Belt took 3 for 32 from nine overs. James completed the three-pronged attack with 3 for 36 from 9.4 overs.
Leicestershire were eventually bowled out for 184 in 39.4 overs, leaving Kent as convincing 88-run winners.
Kent’s victory was built on a strong first innings. Castle and Barnfather provided the substance before Hardwick’s aggressive contribution lifted the total towards 275. The bowlers then ensured Leicestershire were never able to establish the sustained partnership needed to challenge the target.
