Rain forced an early close on the second day of the LV = County Championship match between Kent and Middlesex at Lord’s.

Kent resumed on 46-3, only to see Tim Murtagh reduce them to 140-9. They recovered to make 232 all out, with the partnership of Azhar Mahmood (50 not out) and Simon Cook (51) making a solid 94.

Middlesex were on 120-1, with Sam Robson 59 not out when rain forced an early close, leaving them 47 short of victory. Scott Newman was caught behind for 45 by Geraint Jones shortly before close of play.

Middlesex could be docked points; an ECB pitch panel are due to discuss concerns over the state of the pitch on Day One.
