Mitch Claydon takes two wickets in Super Smash defeat

Kent Spitfires death bowler Mitch Claydon impressed with bat and ball but could not help Central Stags overcome Wellington Firebrds in the Georgie Pie Super Smash T20 in New Zealand.

The Firebirds, who featured county cricketers Craig Cachopa (Sussex), Jade Dernbach (Surrey) and Jeetan Patel (Warwickshire), posted 175 for nine after winning the toss.

Claydon, who turns 33 next week, took two wickets in four overs at the compact Saxton Oval in Nelson at the cost of 33 runs.

In reply, Stags struggled to reach the required run rate and Claydon smashed an unbeaten 17 off 10 balls as they fell 26 runs short.
