OPENER Sam Northeast starred with the bat in both innings as Kent recorded a draw in their Second Eleven Championship match with Hampshire at the Rose Bowl.

Set a highly improbable 421 to win, Northeast was undefeated on 80 when the two skippers shook hands on a draw at five o“clock on the final day. The England under-19 batsman received good support from Jibran Khan. The batsman, on trial at Kent, hit 72 and Alex Blake 48 as the visitors reached 231 for three when the game was declared a draw.
In the first innings, Northeast hit 44 in Kent“s total of 226 all out.
