Elliot Mulley-Goodbarne takes a look back in the Kent Cricket archives for memorable moments through the years…

FIVE YEARS AGO

2010 – Darren Stevens hit 92 as Kent looked to win their first home game of the season against Yorkshire.

Backed up by bowling from Azhar Mahmood and half centuries in the second innings from Geraint Jones, Martin van Jaarsveld, James Hockley and James Tredwell as Kent pressed for a victory to no avail as the Tykes held on for a draw.

TEN YEARS AGO

2005 – Martin van Jaarsveld became the first Kent player to score a century in each innings of his first class debut against champions Warwickshire in the first Frizzell County Championship of the season.

However a stubborn 82 from 232 deliveries by Tony Frost meant the points were shared at Canterbury.

2000 – Kent looked to bounce back from their home defeat to local rivals Essex with an away win of their own against Hampshire in the Benson & Hedges Cup.

However Kent’s hopes were washed out by persistent rain that hampered any chance of play win both teams leaving with a point.

1990 – Kent won their first competitive match of the season against old rivals Essex.

50s from Kent openers Simon Hinks and Neil Taylor helped to set Essex a total of 215 to win from 40 overs.

Despite a century stand for the second wicket between Brian Hardie and Mark Waugh, Kent bowled Essex out 27 runs short with an over to spare.
