Back in Second XI T20 action, Kent’s Seconds were beaten by five wickets, in their match against Surrey Second XI, at New Malden.

Kent were bowled out for 165, with two deliveries left of their 20 overs, and the home side reached their winning target, 169 for 5, with 13 deliveries remaining of their innings.

After Marcus O’Riordan and Gareth Severin, had both scored half centuries, for Kent, the middle order batting failed to consolidate the innings, six wickets falling for 55 runs, with Arafat Bhuiyan, the only other player to reach double figures, with 12 runs.

O’Riordan hit seven boundaries, and four sixes, off 24 deliveries, and Severin, who plays for Hayes, in the Kent Cricket League, had three sixes and three boundaries in his knock of exactly 50, Yousef Majid 3 for 13, Tommy Ealham 2 for 23.

Chasing their winning target, Surrey captain, Josh Blake 57, with five boundaries, and Ollie Sykes 55, off 31 balls, with five sixes and three boundaries, set the base for their win Kent trialist Tommy Sturgess, who previously played for Surrey Seconds, and Cornwall, 2 for 26.

Kent Seconds’ next match is a T20 away fixture, away to Essex Seconds, at the Cloud County Ground, Chelmsford, on Monday 8 July.
