Parking Update: Matches at Canterbury & Beckenham

As we look forward to the 169th Canterbury Cricket Week commencing on 11 July, our last home Vitality Blast group match on 18 July and our Royal London Cup campaign beginning at The County Ground, Beckenham on 22 July, the Club is now able to confirm parking arrangements for all upcoming matches.

We remain in Step 3 of Lockdown and Kent Cricket venues are continuing to operate to Elite Sport Stage 5 Guidelines for the safe return of spectators.

All plans have been approved by Canterbury City Council’s Safety Advisory Group and Public Health representatives.

The next anticipated change of Government restrictions is no earlier than 19 July and we will update Members and Supporters as soon as further information is available.

THE SPITFIRE GROUND, ST LAWRENCE: Kent vs. Sussex –  Canterbury Cricket Week, LV= Insurance County Championship – 11 – 14 July

COVID restrictions within the ground have meant that capacity has been extremely limited. This is due to a number of factors including, new zones being introduced, social distancing protocols, the segregation of player parking, and the entire Leslie Ames Stand being utilised for the away team. In addition, we have also had to bring in extra toilet facilities which has further reduced space inside the ground.

The Club has worked extremely hard to provide multiple parking options and have worked closely with Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School and Canterbury City Council Park and Ride to ensure that there are a range of options available. This is in addition to offering an increased number of accessible spaces inside the ground.

Unfortunately, the school parking arrangements are impacted by adverse weather and school term dates. Despite everyone’s best efforts, it has not been possible to identify a solution of parking in the school at the same time as the pupils are on-site. We are therefore unable to offer parking for Canterbury Week in the school grounds.

We appreciate that parking on the ground is valued by over 250 people who rolled the full value of their 2020 parking pass into 2021. We would remind car park holders that at the end of the season, the General Committee will review the amount of car parking that has been provided and advise car park pass holders of their options.
