Parnell returns to Kent for Twenty20 Cup quarter-final

Sunday 28th June 2009

KENT County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that South African fast-bowler Wayne Parnell is returning for a further four-week spell.

The highly rated 19-year-old left-armer, who impressed everyone during his initial stint at the St Lawrence Ground, will be with the Club from 10th July until the 04th August.

It means that he will be eligible for next month“s Twenty20 Cup quarter-final, with the Durham Dynamos, as well as three LV County Championship matches and the floodlit Nat West Pro40 game, away at Glamorgan Dragons.

Commenting on Parnell“s return, Chief Executive Paul Millman said: “This is great news for the Club. We are delighted to be able to bring Wayne back because he made such a big impact in his initial spell.

The team has done really well to win a tough group and qualify for the quarter-finals of the Twenty20 Cup. Wayne“s return will only help our prospects for next month“s quarter-final against Durham.

It would“ve been nice to keep him here for a slightly longer period but the South African Cricket Board are keen for him to fulfil international commitments later in the summer.”
