Players head to Asia as 2016 preparations step up

Several players are flying out to Asia this month as Kent step up their preparations for the 2016 season.

Head coach Jimmy Adams, physiotherapist Dan George and spin coach Min Patel will accompany Hugh Bernard, Matt Coles, Joe Denly, Charlie Hartley, Adam Riley, James Tredwell and Sam Weller on a ten-day trip to India for some warm-weather training.

The players will hone their skills at the Global Cricket School in Mumbai to make sure they are in peak condition before the full squad gathers for pre-season training next month.

In addition to the India trip, several Kent Cricket Academy scholars are flying out to Dubai for pre-season training.

High performance manager Jason Weaver and strength and conditioning coach will accompany the scholars during their stint at the ICC Academy.

Kent will play a series of friendly matches in late March and early April ahead of the opening County Championship on Sunday 10 April at Worcester.

Essex will visit The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Wednesday 23 March for a three-day match before Kent travel to Hampshire for a two-day game.

The final friendly will be against Durham at Canterbury on Thursday 31 March for two days before a three-day University match against Loughborough MCCU on Tuesday 5 April. Entry to all pre-season matches is free of charge.
