Qais Ahmad joins Melbourne Stars for BBL|11

Vitality Blast Champion Qais Ahmad has signed for Melbourne Stars ahead of the latest edition of Australia’s Big Bash League, which gets underway on 5 December.

The 21-year-old was an important cog in Kent Spitfires’ T20-winning side of 2021, playing in all-but-three of the Spitfires’ Vitality Blast matches in 2021, ending the tournament with an economy rate of just 6.65 as he starved batters of runs on the way to Kent’s first trophy in 14 years.

The leg-spinner’s best Kent figures of two wickets for just 13 runs from his four overs bowled came against Birmingham Bears in the Spitfires’ triumphant Quarter Final at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

Qais already has experience of playing in Australia’s premier domestic T20 competition, after featuring for Hobart Hurricanes in both BBL|08 & BBL|09.

On signing for Melbourne Stars, Qais said: ““I’m happy to have signed with the Melbourne Stars and to get an opportunity to play at the MCG and develop my skills working with some of the great players in the squad.

“I’m looking forward to spending some of the summer in Melbourne and hopefully playing some exciting cricket for all the fans in green.”
