Kent captain Rob Key has backed wicketkeeper to be a success on the international stage ahead of a possible debut in England's one-day international against Ireland in Dublin tomorrow.

The 23-year-old impressed with fantastic displays in Kent's run to the Royal London One-Day Cup semi-finals in 2014 and his skipper believes he has the qualities required to excel at the top level.

Key said: "He's got everything you need to be a successful international cricketer. He's got that hunger and that belief, which is probably the most important thing, along with talent.

"It's a really good thing that England have picked on the Lions trip early as he's come on on potential, he's not played a lot of first-class or one-day cricket…but he's someone you want to fast-track into international cricket as soon as you can."
