Second XI beaten in T20 despite good bowling

Despite some steady bowling from Jas Singh, 3 for 28, and Arafat Byuiyan 2 for 22, Kent Second XI were beaten by five wickets, in their Second XI T20 match, against Middlesex Seconds, at Uxbridge Cricket Club.

Kent made 150 for 9, from their 20 overs, Harry Finch, 56, with seven fours, and Ross Richardson 26, but after their half-century, second wicket stand, at 90 for 2, at the halfway stage of the innings, seven wickets went down for 60 runs, in a mini collapse. Ishaan Kaushal 3 for 28, Josh de Cairies 2 for 32, Thilan Walallawita 2 for 27.

Middlesex Seconds timed their innings perfectly, de Cairies, with eight fours, and two sixes, in an unbeaten 66 not out, Matthew Falconer 41, as they reached their winning 151 for 5 target, with 15 deliveries to spare.

Kent Second XI’s next T20 match, is against Sussex Seconds, at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, tomorrow, Wednesday, June 5, starting at 3pm, with free entry for Members and supporters.

The fixture is likely to feature a number of Kent’s first team players, and will be used as extra T20 practice, in readiness for their first home match of the Vitality Blast, against Somerset, at Cantrerbury, on Friday June 7, 6.3opm start.

Kent Second XI’s T20 double-header on Monday June 10, at The Nevill Ground, in Tunbridge Wells, is set to go ahead as scheduled.
