Shepherd Neame Kent League 2018, week 3

Kent wicketkeeper Oliver Robinson continued his fine form as he hit a century at the top of the order to help 2017 champions Beckenham to victory in the Shepherd Neame Kent Premier League.

The 19-year-old Academy graduate struck 11 fours and two sixes in an innings of 118 batting first against last season’s runners-up Bexley.

Chasing 214, the visitors were bundled out for 116 with Alex Taylor taking 4/24 and two wickets each for Junaid Nadir and Will MacVicar.

Leaders Sandwich Town maintained their strong start to the season with victory at home to newly-promoted Bromley Common at The Butts.

Jamal Patterson (31) and Sam Clarkson (48) scored more than half the visitors’ total of 155 after Dan Evans (3/29) and Craig Spanton (2/21) did early damage.

Former Kent scholar Jan Gray claimed 2/37 with his leg breaks before Alex Smith (84) and Tom Chapman (48) chased the target with 21 overs to spare.

Third-placed Tunbridge Wells earned a comfortable win against Tenterden at The Nevill Ground.

Former Sussex all-rounder Christian Davis top-scored with 58 in a total of 223 after being invited to bat first by the visitors.

Sam Jones (3/52) was the pick of the Tenterden attack and Christopher Vernon’s 63 was the highlight of the reply which fell 39 runs short.

Former Kent scholar Marcus O’Riordan scored 30 and took 2/40 with Ari Karvela’s 3/39 the best of the hosts’ bowling figures.

Lordswood earned a five-wicket win at Sevenoaks Vine and included Sean Dickson in their ranks.

The Kent batsman hit 39 off 41 balls after half-centuries by openers Jack Laraman (57) and Linden Lockhart (60) gave the visitors the perfect platform to chase 223 with 3.3 overs to spare.

Vine opener John Bowden top-scored with 69 and Kent associate scholar Taylor Chandler took 2/38 in a fine ten-over spell for Lordswood.

Newcomers Bickley Park earned a maiden Premier League win at home to neighbours Blackheath.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat, posting 234 with wicketkeeper Mitchell Renwick top-scoring with 67.

In reply, half-centuries from Tanweer Sikandar and Jahid Ahmed were not enough as Adeel Malik picked up 4/36 to help secure a 17-run win.
