Squads named for Kent Women season openers
The Kent Women begin their 2019 season this Bank Holiday weekend with matches against Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire in the Royal London Women’s County Championship.
Kent take on Notts at Polo Farm in Canterbury from 11am on Sunday 5th May and Warwickshire at The County Ground, Beckenham from 11am on Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May in one-day competition.
One of Wisden’s Cricketers of the Year for 2019, Tammy Beaumont, will captain a Kent Women side that also features England internationals Fran Wilson, Alice Davidson-Richards, Laura Marsh and Tash Farrant.
The two fixtures will be the first taste of competitive matches for new Kent Women Lead Coach Mark Dekker, who was appointed in December.
Warwickshire’s visit to The County Ground, Beckenham on Monday 6th May coincides with Women’s County Cricket Day, a nationwide celebration of the Women’s game at county level.
Talking about Women’s County Cricket Day, former Kent and England captain Charlotte Edwards said: “This is a brilliant campaign and something I really support.
“It’s important we raise awareness of women’s county cricket, and hopefully as a result we’ll get more cricket lovers watching and following their local counties.”
