This years trials have been some what different due to the guidance and limitations of the on going pandemic, but we are pleased that they have been able to be completed. Thank you to all of the players and parents for their approach to this extremely unique situation.
With the cancellation of the majority of cricket in the summer we were able to schedule matches between hybrid Area Programme teams and the 2020 Talent Pathway squads, this formed the first part of the trialing process. There has always been a desire at Kent Cricket to move towards including match-play within the selection process, which the current climate enabled us to begin. This enables Pathway coaches to scout players in realistic, game based scenarios that are hard to truly re-create during a net session.
Following the series of matches, nominations were collected and players invited to trial from nominations and scouting during the games.
Congratulations to all of the nominated players, we are extremely disappointed that we couldn’t invite everyone that was nominated to trial due to restrictions in place but we hope that you enjoyed the summer matches.
Those that attended trials deserve tremendous applause for their commitment and effort across the three weeks which took place throughout September at both The County Ground, Beckenham and Tonbridge School.
Undoubtedly, the team of Pathway coaches faced some extremely difficult decisions in selection their final squads which you can find below. Commiserations to those that were unsuccessful on this occasion, we hope that you enjoyed the experience, continue to play and develop your game and have received some useful feedback from our coaches.
Congratulations to all the successful nominees, we wish you all the best for the coming season and look forward to working with you and seeing you perform.
We will be confirming the complete cohort of the girls Talent Pathway squads next week, once the under 11 selection process has concluded.
