Tammy Beaumont hits international best in England T20 warm-up win

Tammy Beaumont celebrated her 25th birthday in style by smashing an international career-best score to guide England to a second T20 warm-up win against New Zealand in Chennai.

The 2015 Kent player of the year smashed seven boundaries on the way to 56 from 52 balls at the top of the order as England won by 20 runs ahead of the Women’s World T20 opener on Thursday.

On Friday, Kent captain Charlotte Edwards scored 28 and Lydia Greenway’s unbeaten 23 off 16 balls helped England chase 131 to gain a four-wicket win against the White Ferns.

Earlier, gun fielder Greenway claimed a wonderful catch and run-out after Kent seamer Tash Farrant took 1-26 from four overs.

All four Kent cricketers are in contention to play in the final warm-up game against South Africa on Monday (2pm GMT) before England’s World T20 opener against Bangladesh in Bangalore on Thursday (10am GMT).

Meanwhile, Sam Billings did not feature as England’s men rotated the squad in a six-wicket warm-up win against New Zealand in Mumbai.

The men face a Mumbai CA XI on Monday (9.30am GMT) before their opening group game against West Indies on Wednesday (2pm GMT).
