The County Ground, Beckenham announced as a venue for The Hundred

Eleven venues, including The County Ground, Beckenham, have been identified to host standalone Women’s Competition matches in The Hundred, a new 100-ball competition, which starts in July 2020.

Kent Cricket CEO Simon Storey said: “It is very exciting to be bringing Women’s cricket at the highest domestic level to the heart of metropolitan Kent.

“We will work closely with our colleagues at the Kia Oval, where the Men’s Hundred will be based, to ensure that every player, coach, match official and spectator has a great experience.

“This is great news for Kent Cricket and the London Borough of Bromley and is reward for the continued investment and development in the facilities at Beckenham.

“It is just another small step in extending the role of The County Ground, Beckenham as a venue capable of hosting a range of domestic and international fixtures and community events.”

Beth Barrett-Wild, Head of the Women’s Competition – The Hundred said: “We’re delighted to be able to take the Women’s Competition to a number of excellent venues around the country.

“The venues for the men’s and women’s competitions respectively are working together incredibly closely and that connection will help The Hundred inspire more people to attend, watch and play cricket.”

“It’s particularly exciting that the Women’s Competition will be seen by fans across all 18 First-Class counties, this represents a huge opportunity to grow women’s cricket – while the double-headers at the men’s venues provide another chance to present the men’s and women’s teams on the same platform.

“Many of the venues for the Women’s Competition have an excellent track record in supporting and nurturing the women’s game and we look forward to that continuing across The Hundred.”
