Three Kent cricketers in England Over 60s World Cup squad

Kent Senior cricketers John Butterworth, Jim Phillips & Simon Routh have all been included in England Men’s squad for the 2024 Over 60s World Cup in India.
This is the second Over 60s World Cup and the first England will be competing in.

England head into this tournament on the back of a very successful 2023 that saw them win the Caribbean Cup, the Grey Ashes and share the Canada Cup with Australia.
Held in the city of Chennai, England sit in Group A alongside New Zealand, Canada, USA, South Africa, Zimbabwe, & a team representing the ‘Rest of the World’.
John Butterworth has 11 caps after debuting for England’s Over 60 side in 2022. An all-rounder who plays his club cricket for Whitstable and was an integral part of the Caribbean Cup and Grey Ashes successes including a crucial 38 in the run chase of the second ODI against Australia.
Jim Phillips is a stalwart of the Over 60s side with 19 caps, the third most in our history, after debuting in 2018. He plays his club cricket for Upchurch. Like Butterworth, he featured throughout the Caribbean Cup and Grey Ashes taking 10 wickets in the former.
Simon Routh is one of two uncapped players in the squad, who plays his club cricket for Tunbridge Wells. He made scores of 102* against Australia and 64 against Wales in friendlies over the summer for the Chairman’s XI and England A respectively.
