Three Kent youngsters have been named in an ECB Junior Super 4s squad for the upcoming regional competition at Wellington College.

All-rounder Deanna Cooper, spin-bowler Deveena Pithia and seamer Dee Tress have all been selected in the squad with wicketkeeper Katherine Long placed on standby.

The talented young cricketers have earned selection for the round-robin competition, which runs from 17 to 20 August 2010 in Berkshire.

Commenting on their inclusion, Kent“s high performance manager, Jason Weaver, said: “This is fantastic news. I“m delighted to see that three Kent players have been selected, and one has been put on standby, for the next step up. It shows that our players are progressing well through the Kent and ECB pathway. I would like to thank everyone involved, throughout our system, and the ongoing support of parents in enabling this to happen. Everyone“s hard work and dedication is most appreciated; it makes a real difference in helping the players continue to develop.”

Kent women’s coach Emily Drumm (pictured)added: “This is brilliant news as it represents a huge opportunity for all of them. It will further help them improve as cricketers and moves them one step closer to the international set-up. They are all extremely excited at the opportunity that they“ve been given.”
