Twenty20 Cup 2009 kicks off in style on Bank Holiday Monday

Thursday 21st May 2009

THE all-singing, all-dancing Twenty20 Cup is back with a bang next week, kicking off on Bank Holiday Monday at The St Lawrence Ground.

Eight fixtures across the country will fire up this year“s campaign with the big match between the Kent Spitfires and the Essex Eagles taking place at Canterbury.

This year sees the tournament split into four stages and culminates with Finals Day on Saturday, August 15 at Edgbaston; the venue where Kent won the competition back in 2007.

The first stage will run from May 25 to June 4 with the second stage, which lasts a week, starting on June 22. So by June 28 all eight quarter-finalists will be decided. The quarter-finals will take place over three days in late July from 27-29 with two games scheduled for July 28.

As ever we are putting our power behind this great competition and this year sees the stakes raised even higher than before. We’re pleased to announce an exciting, new-look monthly magazine and match programme, produced for us by Spin magazine. The first issue (pictured above)is on sale at our first three home Twenty20 Cup games at Canterbury and features interviews with Rob Key, James Tredwell, Derek Underwood, Joe Denly and Geraint Jones as well as full info on our opponents, a spectator of the month and news of everything going on around your club. We’re one of the few counties to produce our own full-on magazine and we hope that you will support it. The first issue comes with a free copy of the latest Spin magazine – worth £3.75 – and a free scorecard.

Tickets are on sale for the game between the Kent Spitfires and the Essex Eagles. You can buy yours online at www.kentccc.com. Gates open at one o“clock with the game itself getting underway at three.
