Willis receives Sky Sports ECB coaching award

Kent Cricket Board coach Ray Willis (pictured)has been recognised for his positive contribution to youth cricket, as part of the Sky Sports ECB Coach Education Programme.

Willis, the father of Kent“s high performance director, Simon, has been rewarded for outstanding services to grassroots cricket and received a coaching certificate from David Lloyd at the recent npower Test Match between England and Pakistan at The Brit Oval.

He was presented with a coaching certificate by the former England head coach as part of the Sky Sports ECB Coach Education Programme.

With over 30 year“s involvement in cricket coaching, Ray is currently coach of the Kent U13 side and has seen many of his protégés represent Kent County Cricket Club and be involved in regional and England squads. Last year he saw his U13 team win the Taunton Festival for the fifth time in the past eight years.

Commenting on receiving the award, Willis said: “I had a very enjoyable day. Massive thanks has to go to Sky Sports for their financial input into the coaching structure and to Kent Cricket Board and Kent Cricket Club for all their support.”
