KENT County Cricket Club’s Director of Operations, Jon Fordham, called today’s ICC World Twenty20 warm-up match a ’total success.’ A crowd of close on 500 turned up to The St Lawrence Ground to watch an entertaining match Bangladesh and the Netherlands.

Put into bat, on a good wicket, Bangladesh scored 206 for six from their 20 overs. Skipper Mohammad Ashraful led the way with a typically aggressive knock of 69. He received good support from Mahmud Ullah, who hit 56. Pieter Seelaar was the pick of the Dutch attack with figures of two for 35 from his four overs.

The Netherlands got off to a shaky start in reply and were 37 for four, at one stage, before a spirited middle order recovery. Peter Borren hit a quick-fire 40, and Dan van Bunge contributed 27, but the victory target was always too steep as Bangladesh ran out comfortable winners. Rubel Hossain was the most effective bowler, with figures of four for 19 from three overs.

Commenting on another successful day at Canterbury, Jon Fordham said: ’It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and both sides performed to an exceptionally high level. The day was a tremendous success, for all concerned, and we naturally wish both teams well at the upcoming World Twenty20 Cup.’
