Player Biography

Off-spinner Megan Belt developed through Kent’s Age Group Programme and was a regular feature in England’s development sides as a teenager.

Playing for Kent Under-13s in 2010, she first caught the eye with her off-breaks by taking 6-17 against Essex in a London League match.

In her first year as a first-team player in 2013, she won the ECB’s National T20 Cup aged 16 – impressing on Finals Day in Sussex with figures of 3-18 against Nottinghamshire in the Semi-Final.

She won multiple titles as a Kent Women player at the start of her career, being in amongst a team featuring the likes of Charlotte Edwards, Laura Marsh, Lydia Greenway & Tammy Beaumont that saw success in both the Women’s County Championship & Women’s National T20 Cup.

Belt first captained the Horses as an 18-year-old against a Combined Services Women team on 18 April 2015, with Kent winning by 86 runs.

On 19 July 2015, she was a part of a very inexperienced Horses side, missing several key players, that defeated Surrey at the Oval by four wickets – Belt finishing with figures of 4-24.

In Kent Women’s double-winning season of 2016, she took 27 wickets in 16 matches at an average of only 11.29, with career-best figures of 5-8 against Yorkshire in June.

In 2019, Kent Women won the final edition of the Women’s County Championship – with Belt finishing as the Horses’ top wicket-taker in the one-day tournament – 12 at 17.75.

On the Club’s 150th Birthday on 6 December 2020, she was awarded Kent Women Cap no. 49 for her services to-date for the Horses, along with 50 other female cricketers to have served the county with distinction since 1935.

Belt deputised for then-captain Tammy Beaumont in Kent’s victorious Women’s London Championship campaign of 2021, leading the side on three of four occasions as Kent lifted the trophy for the first time.

On 3 July 2023, she was Captain for Kent’s ‘Battle of the Bridge’ floodlit T20 showcase at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence against Essex – lifting the trophy in front of a jubilant Kent Women crowd.

On 5 March 2024, Megan Belt was appointed as the official captain of Kent Women ahead of her 12th year as a county cricketer, aged 26.
