From January 2026 the Area Cricket Programme will be managed by the Area Operators with no involvement from Kent Cricket, or the Kent Cricket Foundation.
Building on the past decade of success, the operators will continue to run comprehensive training programmes throughout the year and competitions during the cricket season, with the purpose of providing elite level training and playing opportunities for talented young players to develop their skills. It still aims to provide a higher standard of cricket than schools and clubs can offer, combining the most talented young cricketers in each area to compete against each other.
The programme is ideal for those aspiring to trial for the Kent talent pathway, including Kent Regional Development Programme (KRDP) and Kent Age Group Squads, or those that are not selected for these and would like to improve.
As of September 2024 and the introduction of the Kent Regional Development Programme (KRDP), Area Cricket no longer forms the start of the talent pathway in Kent, this begins with KRDP.
