The ACE Programme’s First Year in South East London

Monday 29th September 2025

As the ACE Programme completes its first year in Kent’s London boroughs, we reflect on the achievements so far and look ahead to an exciting future of continued collaboration and growth.

Impact in Schools

Over the past year, the ACE Programme engaged more than 1,500 secondary school students across South East London, leaving a lasting impact not just on the students, but also on school curriculums.
The overwhelmingly positive response from participating schools has inspired them to develop sessions that promote cricket and highlight the sport’s physical, social, and mental benefits. Traditionally delivered only in the summer, cricket is now being introduced in new and engaging formats throughout the school year including a unique twist: Dodgeball cricket matches.

Dodgeball Cricket Competition

On 20 June 2025, the ACE Programme hosted its first-ever Dodgeball Cricket Competition at Hatcham College Playing Fields. This fast paced, inclusive version of the game was created to be fun, accessible, and welcoming especially for students new to cricket.
With over 100 participants from 10 different schools, the atmosphere was electric. After a full day of exciting, competitive matches, Bonus Pastor emerged victorious, claiming the trophy.

A Successful First ACE Dynamos Camp

ACE also delivered its first regional Dynamos cricket camp during the summer holiday, welcoming families from across South East London. The camp was a huge success providing children with the opportunity to:
• Build confidence
• Learn new skills
• Enjoy cricket in a supportive, fun environment
It also served as a development space for new coaches, giving them hands-on experience and training.

Parent and Child Feedback:

“My children have really enjoyed the positive space you’ve created.”
“I like cricket now can we have it in our school?”
“My son has really enjoyed the sessions.”
This feedback reflects the programme’s value in making cricket more accessible, enjoyable, and community focused.

Guard of Honour Experience

A group of participants from the ACE Community Hubs and ACE Academy had the incredible opportunity to serve as the Guard of Honour at the Kent Spitfires vs Lancashire Men’s Metro Bank One Day Cup match.
It was a memorable day for the young participants, who got to walk the players onto the field and soak in the atmosphere of a professional match. The experience was made even better as Kent secured a 22-run victory in an exciting contest.

Community Hubs

ACE continues to thrive through its two local hubs in:
• Lewisham – Catford Wanderers Sports Club
• Greenwich – Hervey Road Sports Ground
These hubs offer a welcoming space for both beginners and experienced players, encouraging participation and skill development.
As we transition into winter, all sessions have moved indoors:
• Greenwich Hub
Mondays, 6:00–7:00 PM
Thomas Tallis School, London SE3 9P
• Lewisham Hub
Wednesdays, 5:00–6:30 PM
Conisborough College, SE6 2SE
All abilities from ages 8-15 are welcome!

Ongoing Development at the ACE Academy

The ACE Academy continues to operate during the winter, offering structured training and development sessions. The academy serves as a critical pathway for talented young players looking to advance their skills and compete at higher levels.
Trials for new and returning players will open soon — dates to be announced.

Looking Ahead

The ACE Programme is more than just a sports initiative—it’s a movement. Through grassroots engagement, innovative formats, and a deep focus on inclusion, ACE is shaping the future of cricket in South East London.
With strong momentum and growing community support, the future is bright for ACE—and the many young people whose lives it’s helping to transform.
