No Cricket? No Excuse! Learn to Umpire This Winter
Monday 7th September 2026

The season may be over, but that doesn’t mean cricket has to disappear until April.
Our first ECB Umpire Course of the winter takes place on Sunday 25 October, giving aspiring umpires the chance to get trained, build their confidence and be ready to stand next season.
No previous umpiring experience is needed. Whether you want to support junior cricket, help out at your club or start umpiring adult recreational cricket, this is where to begin.
- Sunday 25 October
- 10am–5pm
- Kent County Cricket Ground
Worsley Bridge Road
Beckenham, BR3 1DR - Cost: £70
- Minimum age: 14
The course combines classroom and practical learning, covering the role of the umpire, appeals and dismissals, managing a game, communication and deciding whether conditions are safe for play.
There’s also up to 90 minutes of e-learning to complete beforehand.
By the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to start umpiring at an appropriate level in recreational cricket.
Don’t spend the winter waiting for cricket. Get ready to be part of it.
