Academy scholar hits 189* in Under-17 match

Academy scholar Isaac Dilkes struck an unbeaten 189 for the Kent Under-17 boys against Essex at The County Ground, Beckenham.
The 16-year-old batsman from Broadstairs joined the Academy last winter and hit 23 fours and three sixes as he shared a century stand with opener Harsh Kumar (71).
The St Lawrence College student captains the U17 boys and ran out of partners as the hosts posted 382 in a three-day match with Beckenham’s Rithik Hari (29) and Folkestone’s Nick Ward (37) making contributions.
In reply, Chestfield seamer Taylor Chandler took 3/40 and Blackheath’s Rishi Roy-Mukerjee claimed 2/40 before two declarations set up a successful Essex chase after heavy rain delayed the start of the final day.
