Academy trio selected for ECB Regional Festival

Monday 10th August 2009

KENT Academy trio Adam Ball, Daniel Bell-Drummond and Fabian Cowdrey have been named in the London and East U16 squad for an ECB Regional Festival. The event will be staged at the National Cricket Performance Centre, in Loughborough, between the 17 and 20 of August.

Ball is a left-arm fast bowler and a top order right-hand bat. Bell-Drummond is a top order right-hand batsman, who also bowls medium pace, and Cowdrey – son of former Kent and England Captain Chris – is a left-arm spin bowler and top order right-hand bat.

Commenting on their selection, Academy Director Phil Relf (pictured)said: “These three have made some significant contributions to the County under-17 team this summer. They have scored runs in difficult situations and led the way in several games.

“Their selection is another boost for the work of coaches such as Ray Willis, Ian Baldock and Steve Salisbury. These guys have worked in our system for several years and they are invaluable members of the whole set-up.
The three players now need to dominate at regional level so that they cement places in full ECB representative teams.

“This is just one step on a long journey if they are determined to be professional players. There will be far tougher challenges ahead and we look forward to helping them become better players over the next few years.”
