Denly hits 50 as Kings move to qualifiers

Joe Denly hit his 26th T20 half-century as Karachi Kings failed to reach the Pakistan Super League final at the first opportunity in Dubai.

Kings lost to group stage leaders Islamabad United and must defeat Peshawar or Quetta on Thursday to set up a re-match in next Sunday’s grand final in Karachi.

Denly hit four fours and a towering straight six at the top of the order before tredding on his stumps as he looked to accelerate in the latter overs.

Glamorgan’s South African all-rounder Colin Ingram top-scored with 68* off 39 balls for Karachi but was upstaged by an overseas signing on the opposition side.

Luke Ronchi’s swashbuckling 94* off 39 balls including twelve fours and five sixes as the former New Zealand international right-hander inspired Islamabad to a comfortable eight-wicket win.
