Marlon Samuels set to line up for Leeward Islands v Kent Spitfires

Marlon Samuels is the latest international star set to face Kent Spitfires on the FGS Plant Tour later this month.

The 35-year-old will join the Leeward Islands Hurricanes training camp next week before the West Indies Super50 competition, which starts on Wednesday 25 January in Antigua.

The Jamaican-born right-hander was man-of-the-match in both triumphant ICC World T20 finals in 2012 and 2016.

Vernon Springer, Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Leeward Islands Cricket Board, told the Antigua Observer: “We have 20 guys who will be here over the next couple of days or over the next two weeks and we are going to have some trial games.

We promised you we are going to have the best franchise and whatever it takes, we are going to make sure it works.

“The other big name for you is Ronsford Beaton — the Guyanese fast bowler — who is also going to be part of our 20-man squad, and from last year we would have had Daron Cruickshank who is also coming back into the One Day squad.”

Antiguan all-rounder Orlando Peters has also been included in the training squad.
