KENT’S second eleven drew their latest Championship match with Surrey at Charterhouse School. The home side declared their second innings on 167-7 to set Kent a victory target of 259 to win from a minimum 56 overs.
Despite the best efforts of Fabian Cowdrey (42), Kent reached 142-8 when the two captains shook hands on a draw. Cowdrey – who top scored in the run chase – replaced James Goodman who was promoted to the first-team for their NatWest Pro40 game with Surrey at Canterbury. All-rounder Charlie Hemphrey hit 23.
