Adam Ball hits century as Second XI beat Chris Gayle Academy XI
Adam Ball hit an unbeaten century as Kent’s second XI comfortably defeated a Chris Gayle Academy XI at The County Ground, Beckenham.
The 24-year-old all-rounder reached three figures off 106 balls and struck nine fours and a six in a fluent innings.
Batting at number three, he added 68 runs with on-loan Joe Weatherley (43 off 38 balls) who returned from illness.
The biggest stand was a 112-run partnership with 19-year-old Kai Appleby, who scored a second half-century in as many weeks.
In reply, the visitors never kept up with the run rate and Imran Qayyum took 2/34 in a tidy spell and there were wickets for Hugh Bernard and Matt Hunn.
Charlie Hartley claimed a run-out and Ivan Thomas conceded just 21 runs in a wicketless 10-over outing.
The players will be looking to stake a claim to play in the Royal London One-Day Cup, which starts on Thursday (27 April) with the group stage running for the following three weeks.
