Six Kent League bowlers called up to face the Aussies

Wednesday 12th August 2009

KENT County Cricket Club would like to thank the six Kent League cricketers that came to our rescue earlier today and turned up to provide net bowling to the Australian touring side. With both the first and second-team in action, and several players out injured, we were left with the unique situation of having too few bowlers available.

So up stepped the following six bowlers; Alex Lorimer (Bromley Common), Chris Rainger (Sevenoaks Vine), Darrell Carter, Andrew Tutt, James Thompson and James Cramp (all Hartley Country Club). The players went through a vigorous warm-up before being faced with the unenviable prospect of bowling to the likes of Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey and Michael Clarke. The Aussie players looked in good spirits as they prepared for this weekend“s Tour match against the England Lions.

Remember, it“s free for members and keenly priced for non-members. Come along on either day and it will cost you the following:

£18 for adults
£12 for senior citizens
£6 for juniors

It could be the last time that Ricky Ponting tours England. You have the opportunity of seeing him up and close and personal. Surely it“s worth making the effort?
