Spitfires begin T20 Blast with Friday night fixtures

Kent Spitfires bid to reach T20 Finals Day 2018 begins in July with successive Friday night home games.

After trips to Surrey, Somerset and Gloucestershire, Hampshire visit The County Ground, Beckenham on Friday 13 July before the oldest rivalry in county cricket resumes a week later against Surrey at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

The Spitfires then entertain Sussex Sharks on Friday 27 July before the Battle of the Bridge derby against Essex Eagles on Thursday 2 August.

There are two Sunday afternoon fixtures at the start of the school summer holidays with Gloucestershire and Middlesex the opponents on August 5 and 12.

The closing home clash of the South Group stage is against Somerset on Thursday 16 August.

Spitfires skipper Sam Northeast said: “The squad is already excited by the new season and the challenges that await us.

“The fixtures look tough and there are some tough sides out there but we believe we can challenge for trophies.

“We look forward to playing in front of some packed crowds at Beckenham and Canterbury.”
