Former Kent Cricket captain, James Tredwell is keen to make his mark, having been called into the England squad for the forthcoming Caribbean tour and ICC World Twenty20.

Tredwell, who cited his commitment to the England side as one of the key reasons behind his decision to step down as Kent Cricket captain at the end of the 2013 season, has just returned from the Ashes tour to Australia. Prior to that, he was also included in the England squad for their limited overs tour to the Caribbean.

Commenting briefly on the Ashes, Tredwell said; “Well it’s one to remember. It’s a great place to tour and it’s always tough over there, but that can make the team come out stronger on the other side. If you learn from the bad things that happen on a tour like that, then as individuals and as a team it stands you in good stead.”

Tredwell has 27 ODI caps for England to his name, and has appeared in eight T20s, but he was left on the side lines when England won the World T20 four years ago.

The spinner admits that he if he is overlooked for the England team during next month’s World T20 in Bangladesh this would be upsetting. Commenting ahead of his imminent departure for Antigua, Tredwell said; “I’m really pleased to be involved and I’m keen to keep improving my game. That’s what drives me on and hopefully that never leaves me.”

“I was pretty disappointed when I missed the first ODI in Melbourne, and it'll be the same for this tour. I will be pretty upset if I don’t play a reasonable amount of games, and I’d like to think I’ll be involved, but there is a lot of talent. I’ve just got to concentrate on my own game.”

"It's nice to be home for a couple of weeks after a tough tour in Australia, but I'm looking forward to heading to the Caribbean."

England’s 3 match ODI series in Antigua is February 28th, March 2nd and 5th, followed by a 3 match T20 series in Barbados on March 9th, 11th and 13th. England then begin their World T20 campaign on March 22nd when they face New Zealand.
