Children enjoy Countrystyle Recycling Schools Day Out

More than 1,000 schoolchildren enjoyed their first experience of live county cricket at the 2017 Countrystyle Recycling Schools Day Out.

Pupils from more than 20 Kentish schools braved the overcast weather at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence for the opening match of the Royal London One-Day Cup featuring several international players.

The next generation of Kent supporters were provided clap banners and took part in cricket sessions with the club’s community coaches before meeting Spitfires players for photos and autographs in the interval.

Kent Cricket’s community team work with cricket clubs, schools and volunteers to support the grassroots game.

The outreach work in schools is funded in association with charity Chance To Shine and community sponsors Countrystyle Recycling, Kent Reliance and Southern Water.

The schools involved were: Sandown, Southborough Primary, Folkestone Academy, Greenfields Community Primary, Kemsley Primary & Milton Court Primary, Brompton Academy, King Ethelbert, St Nicholas School, Aylesford School Sports College, Sandwich Technology School, Brabourne C of E Primary, Canterbury Primary School, Godinton Primary School, Sedley’s CE Primary School, The Beacon Folkestone, Ifield School, Goodwin Academy, Herne Bay High School, Palace Wood Primary School, John Wesley School, Marden Primary School, The Towers School, St Simon Stock
