Milne raring to go for Spitfires

Paceman Adam Milne is proud to become the fourth New Zealand international to play for Kent after signing for the second half of the 2017 season.

Following in the footsteps of Tom Pritchard, Ian Butler and Tom Latham, the man that bowled the fastest delivery at the Champions Trophy is looking forward to his county cricket debut.

Milne said: “Before I signed I talked to Tommy [Latham] prior to coming here to ask him what he thought and he said it was a really good group of guys and a great coach. He gave his full endorsement to the side, so I was happy to come.

“Of course, being away for much of the year you miss the little things from home, but my brother lives in London and my girlfriend is joining me in July for three weeks, which will be great.

“But I guess it’s all part of the pros and cons of being a professional cricketer. It’s tough being away from home but when you get the opportunity to play for Kent and for different teams all around the world, then that’s an honour.”

The 25-year-old fast bowler is looking forward to his home debut at The County Ground, Beckenham early next month.

The man from Palmerston North said: “I’ve played plenty of different roles for New Zealand and for my own district team back home.

“I’ve opened the bowling, bowled first change, bowled at the death or in the middle of an innings, so have experience in all those roles and am happy to do any of them for Kent.

“It’s all down to what the coach, the skipper or the team wants; whatever that is, I’m happy to dive into it.”

“I’ll look to build some overs up in the next few weeks during the T20s and then hit some championship cricket head on. That’s a huge benefit to me.”
