Crawley and Haggett impress as 2nd XI win T20 double

Zak Crawley hit his maiden T20 century and Calum Haggett took two four-wicket hauls as Kent’s second XI beat Middlesex twice in a double-header at Polo Farm.

With the NatWest T20 Blast starting on Sunday, several players staked a claim for a place in the Spitfires squad against Essex Eagles with some sensational displays.

Kent won a low-scoring opener, as Crawley and Scotland international Matt Cross shared a stand of 52 off 32 balls before New Zealand paceman Adam Milne struck 33* off 18 balls to get Kent up to 149 for eight.

The Kent bowlers kept the pressure on the chase as Milne, Imran Qayyum and Adam Riley each struck twice.

Black Caps paceman Milne conceded just ten runs from his three overs before Calum Haggett’s 4/22 gutted the Middlesex middle order to secure a 31-run win.

In the second match, Zak Crawley hit ten fours and two sixes in an innings of 109* off 65 balls as he shared a stand of 195* with New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham (78*).

The big-hitting left-hander struck nine fours and a towering six to push Kent to 219 to one – a target which rarely looked under threat.

In reply, Neesham struck with his second ball and later showed his athleticism to run out Lace.

Haggett was again the pick of the bowlers with 4/36 in four overs with Hugh Bernard picking up the other wicket in a fine 46-run win.
