Academy scholar top-scores in tie
Tuesday 22nd August 2017
Academy scholar Jordan Cox hit a fluent half-century for the London & East Under-17s on day one of the national Super 4s at Loughborough.
His side achieved this first tie in the competition’s history after the 16-year-old Sandwich Town wicketkeeper-batsman top-scored 70 off 90 balls in a total of 277 for eight against the North U17s in 50 overs.
In reply, fellow scholar Tom Davis took a wicket (caught behind by Cox) as the North slipped from 182 for two to tie.
In the other match, the Midlands defeated South & West thanks to a 50 and two wickets from Derbyshire’s recent teenage debutant Hamidullah Qadri.
