Kent duo in overseas T20 leagues

Sam Billings and Joe Denly have been signed to play in overseas T20 leagues this winter.

Billings will play for Durban Qalandars in the new T20 Global League in South Africa in November.*

The 26-year-old’s side will be based at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground with the tournament starting on Friday 3 November with the inaugural final on Saturday 16 December.

Teammates will include England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan, Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman, New Zealand’s Mitch McClenaghan and South African stars Hashim Amla and Chris Morris.

Meanwhile, 2017 Kent player of the year Denly has been signed by Bangladesh Premier League champions Dhaka Dynamites.

The 31-year-old is familiar with the city after a spell with Brothers Union in the 2014 Dhaka Premier League one-day series.

Joe’s teammates for the tournament include overseas signings Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka), Shane Watson (Australia), Sunil Narine, Evin Lewis (West Indies) Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Amir (Pakistan).

The Dynamites homegrown heroes include Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

The BPL group stage runs until Wednesday 6 December with playoffs before the final on Tuesday 12 December.

*UPDATE: The T20 Global League has been postponed until 2018 by Cricket South Africa.
