Assistant coach Allan Donald was delighted with an excellent all-round display as Kent’s record 50-over total set up a 220-run win against oldest rivals Surrey on Friday.

The former South African Test paceman said: “It was a magnificent team performance. I’m chuffed for Darren Stevens getting a career-best but it was a composed performance from all the bowlers.

“We’ve worked hard with Imran (Qayyum) on his pace and trajectory with his role in one-day cricket on good pitches like this. He came to the party after Mitch (Claydon) and Matt (Henry) got wickets up front.

“We weren’t far away in the opening two matches and we’re learning from each game with confidence growing all the time.

“Our attitude to scrap to get us back into the tournament. The turnaround is short and it’ll tough to get close to that performance but we know what we have to do.

“It was a very good crowd on Friday and we have another big match on Sunday so hopefully the supporters can come down again.”

Daniel Bell-Drummond needs 21 runs to reach 3,000 in his one-day career and Matt Henry is two short of 50 wickets for the county after just 10 matches for Kent.
