Kent players in Kent League action

Kent all-rounder Grant Stewart top scored with 57 playing for Sandwich in their Kent League Premier Division match with local rivals Canterbury at the weekend but finished up on the losing side.

Returning from injury, but playing only as a batsman, Stewart’s half century was in-vain as Sandwich were bowled out for 161, chasing 176 for victory. Newly promoted Canterbury scored 175 for 9 from their 50 overs with Jarryd Taiq also hitting a half century. There was some tight bowling for Sandwich from former Kent Academy scholar Jan Gray who conceded only 21 runs from 10 overs.

Kent wicket-keeper Adam Rouse was in the winning Sevenoaks Vine side as they beat Bexley at Manor Road by 89 runs. In a match restricted to 30 overs a side Sevenoaks reached 211 for 5, with opener Chris Vernon unbeaten on 104. Bexley finished on 152 for 8.

Kent Second XI player Will McVicar scored 84 not out for Beckenham as they beat Blackheath at the Rectory Field by seven wickets and there were also victories for Tunbridge Wells over Lordswood and Bickley Park beat HSB London.
